Simon initially started to race Motocross solo bikes back in 1995 at the tender age of 15. His 5 year career came to an end with a major knee injury sustained whilst racing.

So where did his interest in sidecar racing take hold?

Simon went to the Isle of Man for the first time back in 1997, to compete in 2 motocross events and 2 beach races based in Peel and Douglas and also to support sidecar driver Greg Lambert. Whilst he was recovering from his knee operation, Simon decided that laying down in a sidecar seemed like the next best thing.

Simon started his sidecar racing career in 2000.

 2000, Won Darley Moor Championship

 2000, Won New ERA Championship (broke both lap and race records)

 2000, Won ACU Star championship

 2001, MRO best up and coming driver,

 2001, 7th in British F2 championship

 2001, Won New ERA Championship

 2001, EMRA F2 championship

 2001, 1st place Wirral 100 road race.

 2002, Runner up in British Championship.

 2002, IOMTT races, fastest newcomer 102mph 15th place.

 2003, Runner up British championships.

Achievements: Runner up British champion twice, TT podium Finish, Rookie of the Year 2004, Best newcomer southern 100 2007.

Winnie became interested in sidecars when he used to go and watch as a youngster with his dad at British rounds and at Oliver’s Mount in Scarborough. Winnie got into the sidecar game by chance when he went to buy a van off a local driver, and noticed the sidecar. He asked a few questions about the sport and before he knew it he was on the start grid.

His actual career started back in 2002 as a passenger to Steve Pullan, coincidentally the guy he bought the van off.

 2002, Started racing at club level in the Auto 66 championships.

 2003, Runner up in 2004 Auto 66 championships.

 2003, Has a big accident racing and broke his back and both ankles.

 2004, Started racing Formula 1 sidecars with Ben Birchall, won MRO rounds and finished 4th in the British Championships gaining Rookie of the Year.

 2005, Winnie did his first TT with John Holden, and finished a remarkable 7th.

 2005, Runner up in the British championships with Nigel Connole

 2006, TT podium with John Holden.

 2007, 6th place the IOMTT

 2007, Unbeaten at Olivers mount.

 2007, Southern 100 Best newcomers award breaking the newcomers lap record.
